Itinerary outline: Day 1- Arrive in Lyon. Complementary Cocktail with dinner. Take a stroll in "Le Vieux Lyon" (Old Lyon) and enjoy dinner in one of many Bouchon Lyonnais (typical local restaurant) . Hotel- the luxurious 4-star Cour des Loges in the heart of old Lyon city. Superb! Day 2- Tour the fabulous city of Lyon. With your Lyon City card, choose from an array of museums and guided tours, including full use of Lyon's bus, metro, and tramway systems. Visit the stunning Basilica on Fourviere hill (see photo above), as well as Place Bellecour, one of the largest squares in Europe, the quaint quarter of La Croix Rousse, the acclaimed Museums of Silk and Beaux Arts, and much, much, more. Learn about the 2000 year history of this wonderful French city. Hotel- Cour des Loges. Day 3- Tour the world famous Beaujolais region with our associate oenologist, a native of the region, whose family has been in the wine business for 4 generations. Visit his family's personal wine properties and drive through renown Beaujolais vineyards. Receive wine tasting instruction and documentation, tasting famous wines of Beaujolais such as Beaujolais-Villages, Cote de Brouilly, Morgon, Fleurie, Chenas, and more. Lunch at the superb Chateau de Pizay (see photo). Hotel- Cour des Loges. Day 4- Meet again with your personal oenologist and guide for a day of visits, tastings, and instruction, to include the well respected appellations of the northern Rhone Valley. Visit family estates for private tastings of such appellations as Cote Rotie, Condrieu, Hermitage, St. Joseph, Cornas, and others. Before dinner visit the fabulous Roman Antique Theatre and Roman Arch de Triumph in Orange. Hotel- Le Sommellerie in Chateauneuf du Pape, owned and operated by French Master Chef ("Maitre Cuisinier de France") Peirre Paumel and his wife Annie. Superb dining. Day 5- Another day of visits, wine tastings and lessons in "l'art de vivre" in the world renown Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas regions. Taste the crus of Gigondas, Chateuaneuf du Pape, as well as Cotes du Rhone and Cotes du Rhone Villages. Take a private tour at the famous Chateau la Nerthe (this tour is not open to the general public and is only for guests of Beaux Voyages). See the fabulous wine cellar of this 17th century chateau where famous French chefs such as Paul Bocuse and other celebrities keep their own reserves of this famous wine under lock and key. Visit the world renown Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct bridge (see photo) before another succulent dinner prepared by Chef Paumel. Hotel- Le Sommellerie in Chateauneuf du Pape. Day 6- Tour the extraordinary walled city of Avignon. Guided day-long tour of the city, including the renown Palais des Papes, the "Pont d'Avignon" (Avignon Bridge, made famous in song), stroll through Old Avignon, and much more. Hotel- the 4-star Hotel Europe with Michelin star dining. Day 7- Shuttle to TGV station in Avignon after breakfast. The Trip Includes: 3 full days of wine touring and instruction by a certified professional oenologist. 3 lunches in top restaurants with your oenologist host.
